What are the normal and maximum operating temperatures for early 911s? Thank you.
I would like to know the answer to two questions, restricted to early 911s only:
1. The normal operating temperature for an early 911 (mine is a 1969 911 E coupe) ? and..... 2. the maximum operating temperature for the same year (or comparable year) ? Thank you (I have a "dial-in" thermostat, apparently)

Mine has the "dial in center screw" on the top. I believe Tyson mentioned this thermostat was in some racers at a shop. So I'm not sure. The central "dial-in screw" is currently set approximately half way in?
and I am uncertain as to the temperatures I am to look for as mentioned in the above first post.

Henry,
On normal days my 1973.5 CIS engine runs between 180 and 210. At AutoX, it will spike a bit above 210 but never as high as 250. Hope this helps.

180-220 would be the normal range. 230 and above is getting hot. 250 is shut-down-and-cool-off time.
