need help on 2.7 ignition

I shorted out my "coil" on 2.7 RS, and now the CDI box won't whine, either.

[Installation is on original 914-6 with 2.7RS and Bosch (nor Marelli) distributor]

Installing new "coil," and looking for advice on voltage to CDI box. When I measure red wire to CDI (on 3-prong plug) I get very low (under 1 volt) reading.

If this isn't right, where should I look next?

Notes: When I crank engine, points do open and close; 12 volts.
Whether I crank or not, wire to "+" side of coil reads <1 volt (constant)

I've never had an ignition problem in the nearly 30 years I've owned this car...

Thanks! Tim
