Fuses

After the problem I had with my 25 amp fuse crumbling from age and effecting my fuel pump. Someone suggested replacing all the old looking fuses. I can find the 25, the 16 and the 8 amp fuses. What I can't seem to find is the 5 amp fuses. Does anyone know where to buy them? thanks,

I haven't seen any in more than 10 years ... most dealers will tell you to just use the 8 Amp fuses. Reasonable solution, most of the time.

Aircraft circuit breakers are a foolproof solution, but extensive modification to wiring harness.

The Porsche part number for the yellow 5-amp fuses is 90017300690. In the recent past (within the last year or so) I ordered these through Pelican and they were $1.00 each. However I note Pelican is now showing them NLA on line, however you might call them and see if it is just a temporary situation. One could also call other parts sources such as Stoddards, etc. and see if they have the fuses.

Went to a Porsche dealer near me. They don't show them available either.

If ANYONE suggests using 8A where 5A was originally used.....regardless if they're the dealer or not...they are nuts and severely WRONG......

8A is 60% ( let me spell it out .... "sixty percent") higher value than 5A !

There is a REASON why 5A was used in the first place... !

Take it from someone who had a $3000 wire harness melt-down and a 4 month lay up for repairs.... due to stupidity like this by the PO.....

Here in northern NJ I have had no problem finding yellow 5A German fuses at the local parts store. You guys have scared me into buying two packs. They are made by Buss. I'm sure any parts store can order them.

Volvo uses the same fuse type for their early cars. You might try one of their shops or someone who services euro cars.

Try a web search for "Bussman GBC-5" or "Littlefuse GBC-5"

They seem to be readily available.

I found them at Stoddard's! But when I went to pick them up they had the 8 amp to give me, but they did have the 5 amp in stock. They also gave me the wrong gaskets?? - WTH
