What's the best racing bucket for the street???
I am looking to pick up some buckets for my 911. I was looking at maybe getting the recaro Evo-8 seats. What do you all think of these. What seats do you all have??

I have been using the Recaro SRD's I like them because they are fairly inexpensive and are quite light.

SRD's are not legal for PCA racing anymore, but if you are using them for DE or the steet, they can't be beat!

Cobra Imola's or Imola 2's, depending on but size and they are of Kevlar construction, for fiberglass prices....

I love my Recaro SPGs. They are extremely confortable. Wouldn't recomend them for anyone with larger that waist size 34" tho.
Pole positions would be a little wider (I've heard the Sparco Evo is pretty much equivalent in size). The Cobras I've sat in are of great quality but too wide for my taste.

I've sat it the SPG's that are in Princeton's car. Very nice seat if you don't want to move around. Empty your pockets before you sit in them though. I am strongly considering them for the time that I purchase new seats.

Best bang for the buck, DAD seats!
I have seen some good deals for Momo RS GT's, and wish I had stumbled onto them prior to my DAD purchase. Don't know if Wayne sells Momo seats, but here is a link: http://www.rwparts.com//catalog/index.php?cPath=26_33&osCsid=e4b6f423c6bee2d1d17cdc9b6322acbf |

For normal size guys the Pole Position if you want to drive past a DE day in comfort. Sucks getting in and out or into the back seats but the driving position is awesome and extremely comfortable for the 34" crowd and above. The SRDs are a god seat just not a great seat. Sparco Evo II is another good seat with some room actually sit down

I prefer the 10 gallon plastic bucket from Home Depot's paint department. It has never leaked and the car is clean. It is cheap too. (The guy asks about buckets and every one goes off on their seats!!?)
![]() OOOOOHHH, bucket seats... I think the best choice is going to be different for every single person. Which seat fits your buns? That's the one to get. If you put in a seat for the passenger either fit it to that favorite victim or get a wider version so anyone can play. Wayne Last edited by Quicksilver; 08-18-2003 at 11:51 PM.. |

When the fork did that come down? They're FIA approved! I just bought a set and probably wouldn't have otherwise. |

Sparco Evo 2's are great if you're looking for a one piece racing bucket to be used for the street or a dual-purpose car. Understand you can't flip the seat forward for access to the back seat area, though.

Page 8 of the 2003 PCA Club Racing Rules:
14. All cars are required to have a dedicated race seat with routing for straps.

Is there anything specifically saying from the PCA that the SRDs fail? If I drive an Evo2 day-to-day its not a dedicated seat, and its got the same sort of routing holes my SRDs have.

If I remember correctly, it has something to do with the reclining feature. I will check with the "powers" and get an official answer for you.

If you have a seat brace it shouldn't matter if the seat reclines. Doesn't make sense.
