"CV gasket from hell"
Completed my 2nd. and last CV replacement.
I'm sure some of guys will say "CV's, no problem", all I can say is your better men than me! CV's are a nasty, messy, hard to handle, pain in the a$$. It took 4hrs. to replace 2 CV's (one side) on my 84 930. Trying to get the rubber boots on with that sticky grease all over my hands was a real test. But that outside gasket almost made me loose it. If your thinking about replacing CV's, get the complete half stafts and just bolt them up!!! Maybe I'm turning into grumpy old man?

You have confirmed my decision to get the axle and just bolt it on.
I agree...with age and experience comes wisdom. Dave

Great...I need to do this job soon.
Seems like I recall the price is $90 per cv joint ($360 for all four) or about $250 a piece for two completed bolt-on axles. Sounds like you'd say the $140 savings ain't worth it? At 4 hours per side, 8 total, that would make my time worth $17.50/hr....that is if I've remebered the prices correctly. Ryan
