Exclamation Some frightening numbers on the occaision of my 1000th post

I couldn't think of anything profound to say on the occaision of my 1000th post, but didn't want to waste it in the off topic area either.

Let's see....

1000 posts probably took an average of 4 minutes each to compose and proofread. And I probably had 10 minutes worth of reading both before and after posting for a total of 24 minutes of time spent per post.

1000 posts x 24 minutes = 24,000 minutes/60 minutes/hour = 400 hours/16 waking hours/day = 25 days of my life spent here!!! Yikes! *

*Times are estimates - your results may vary.

I can think of worse ways to spend your time. I write this time off as education.

And think of all of the money you can save with the knowledge that you gain here.

We won't mention the money you spend after someone tells us how cool their latest mod is.

OUCH then what about me who's racked up 1700 posts in less than a year?

edit: that comes out to be something like 30 days of being on pelican.. in 1 year.. hmm.. 1/12th of my time in the last year was on this board.. I really need a life.

edit2: that's 30 FULL 24 hour days

That's OK...Leland's time posting on this board is probably longer than the time he's been alive.

Then consider Wayne, who has 7694 posts, writes Porsche books, and runs Pelican Parts on top of it!

That's the really scary part. I have visions of buying an early car and stuffing in a 3.6 Liter. I can build a car like that for $12K or so, right???

You think 1000 is bad, I would have over 12,000 on Audiworld in three years if the database server hadn't died over there a couple years ago. Now I'm at 8220.

Lee,
Do you have any idea how torqued I will be if you go and do that "Early 911/ 3.6 stuff" thing before I get back in the saddle?

Actually, after thinking about it, maybe you should go ahead. I might be a while. That way I can live vicariously through you!!

Excuse me all...all this talk about having a life...i really can't think of a better way to live it!! sitting around in AC, farting around on my puter learning fun new stuff about Porsche cars...owning a P-car...driving a p-car..wrenching on a p-car while screaming at the top of my lungs when i realize i must backtrack an hour because i forgot a circlip...what could be better? Howabout scrounging away for something to eat in drink in the middle of god-forsaken Afghanistan?

Some computer systems use a number to store dates. Basicly there is a start date - day #1, and all other dates evolve from there. On a Pick system day one is 01/01/68. So day zero (or null) is displayed as 12/31/67. Today would be day # 13023.

I would assume that the board uses a similar method and members w/o a date in the database have the registered date stored as day " " or day 0 so it displays as 12/31/69.
