engine ID

Where might I find it on the early year cars? 69-74?

Any way to tell if it matches the body, other than Kardex? thanks!!

The engine type number is stamped in the case at the rear along with the serial number. See this thread on the early "S" registry for pics of the locations.

You can tell if the type # is correct for a '65-73 by referring to these charts:
'65-73, Page 1
'65-'73, Page 2
For a '74, look at this chart

Although you will know if the engine type is correct for your year model from this, the only way to find out if the chassis matches its original engine serial # is to order the Kardex from PCNA.
