I'm in!

Just wanted to share the great news that I'm finally the proud owner of an '88 911!

Thanks to everyone for all their help and suggestions for PPI locations as well as answers to newbie questions--I'm sure I'll have plenty more.

-Terry

Here's some pics:

Well done Terry, other than saying you should have saved a little more and hung out for an SC, you have done well. Bill. '79SC.

Thanks for the kind words!

White wasn't in my head as a color choice but when a friend sent me the pics I thought, "hmmm, this looks pretty nice."

The PPI was done at Callas Rennsport (thank you Tony!) and it actually didn't do so well. Compression and leakdown numbers on a couple cylinders were not so good, so Tony took it out for a spirited drive and retested and then the numbers were fine. Turns out she was driven only a few miles each day and Tony guessed there was a lot of carbon buildup.

I took it in for an early service and had the belts and plugs replaced, oil, brake and tranny fluids replaced, the A/C charged up and the head temperature sensor upgraded.

Next thing to do is replace the rear tires and go up a size or two on the wheels. They're 6's and 7's now and I'm thinking 7's and 8's or 9's, but I hear 9's are quite expensive.

It'll be my daily driver here in San Diego. I've already signed up for the PCA chapter here and am really excited to learn to really drive it!

Very nice. So, will you be at California Speedway on Sunday for the San Diego PCA Auto cross? Might be a way to make some good contacts.

I was really hoping to but I won't have new tires in time. The rears are really ready to be replaced, I'm not sure they'd even let me on the course with them.

Hopefully I'll have things together to make the October 24 auto cross at Qualcomm stadium.

I think white C2s would be smashing. There are plenty of guys that can photoshop wheels on your car for you so you can get an idea what you think looks best. I almost bought a white car, & I had planned on white C2 wheels for it, but the deal fell though. Oh the joys of spending mass qauntities of cash.

That is a really lovely car. White is pretty cool - it's not so common, doesn't get so hot in summer, stays cleaner-looking.

Sweet car. The 911 is the only car I've ever seen that looks *good* in white.

Definitely get some driving in this weekend, tires or not! And don't worry about bigger wheels yet. I've been running 6s and 7s for three years now with no problems.

Nice looking, just too bad it's not an SC and a cabriolet ;-). I had trouble sleeping the first couple nights - I'd wake up in the middle of the night and have to come down to the garage and look at it. The sickness really begins!
