Howdy-
Just looking for a consenus on what I should do as far as replacing my seats. I have leather SC type seats in my '84 with almost no bolstering, I can just imagine sliding all over creation in these things doing a DE. I don't know if I should go for a racing bucket, or a reclining type semi-race seat (if you call it that). I like to drive it to work occasionally, and don't see doing more than a couple DE's and some Autocross next year. I'm not keen on the thought of not being able to tip the seat forward for rear access, but like the idea of keeping my butt planted in place. I'm thinking something like the Corbeau CR-1... ![]() Good enough? Anybody ever used them? I'd like to keep my setup under $1000, and do both seats. Looking for any comments you might have. I'm kind of shying away from Recaro, as they sure seem pricey... Thanks- BG

Recaro SRDs. That is what you need, in my opinion. I paid $890 shipped for my set, and you will need new sliders if you have power seats. All told, I spent just under $1000, but I LOVE the SRDs. I had powered Carrera seats, and the SRDS envelop your body. I would not recommend them if you are a bit chubby...
The difference, for me, was night and day. The SRDs have perfect ergonomics for my body. An hour of seat time is a piece of cake now. Jurgen |

Recaros are more expensive but will last longer, look and perform better than just about anything else out there. SRD's with a sub strap hole are a great choice and a quick search will turn up where to get the best deal.
Let's say in a year or so the DE thing doesn't grab you and you want to sell. Nice SRD's will sell quickly, and for probably not much less than you paid.

I was considering the Corbeau's myself. I have seen them up close and they seem to be very good quality. I have 1 older recaro srd in my car now but I want a full race seat like the Corbeau Forza 2. I'm going to buy them this month so I'll report back to you on the quality & confort.

If you haven't done any DEs yet, then I wouldn't replace the seats just on the thought that you *might* need them. I did DEs for years with stock seats. No problemo. One thing that really helps is to get one of those little steel clips that come with infant car seats and use that to lock your stock seat belt in a position so that it is tight (and won't loosen) when you're on the track. Works like a charm and is a dirt cheap alternative.
I even used a harness bar and 5-point harness with stock seats. Not optimal, but there's really nothing wrong with it for a DE. As for seats, I currently have Sparco Evo 2s in my car and the only real drawback is that they are hard to get in and out of. Not the greatest thing for a daily driver. Mike

I have a Forza II for my passenger side. It's a nice quality seat with thick velour type cloth. The cloth is nicer that what's on my Momo Rookie.
The Forza II is a wide seat. If that's your shape, great. Trying one on before you buy would be ideal. The Rookie (or Start is the replacement model) is much more narrow, but it fits me great. I would recommend either one, especially for the price. They are both excellent values. ![]()

I would suggest sitting in a few seats before making any judgements. They may look cool but that doesnt help when your butt hurts. Also make sure the seat fits you ie the shoulder cutouts are in the right position. I did not fit in any seats except the Konig SP700 model. I found out I have a long torso and this determined the seat I bought. Hopefuly you dont have this problem. Try Apex SPG in Oakdale. Jim Bryant has alot of seats in his showroom you can try out. Real nice guy with alot of info.

SRDs may be difficult to find, but I love the ones I just put in my car. Total was a smidge over $1k, because I needed to get the recaro sliders/frame for my '68 (seat doesn't bolt into the '68, but bolts directly into 74+, aparently)
