Spooky! I've just been offered another 911!!

After searching for a 911 online and in magazines with no success, and being really shocked at being offered one from a wanted add in my local free adds paper, I have just had a call offering me another

I've not been to look yet but the owner tells me that it's a 1971 2.2T LHD fitted with fibreglass turbo rear arches,it has been standing a long time, it has been part stripped but it has sound floors etc and the only rust is round the tank mounts. It comes with various wheels including spoked and cookie cutters, it comes with spare panels etc and a complete front end from another LHD 911 cut off about 10" along the sills.

He says he would like to get £3k.

How does that sound?

That's nearly $5,000 right?

I don't know about over there, but by our standards it sounds like way too much. The unkown cost of making the car right is the problem. You could easily get up to or over $20,000 in a "T" car that may be worth $12-15,000 when you're done.

Remember, if you want to restore cars, do it to the models that are most desirable, like an early "S".

Been sitting for a while? That could equate to some costly refurbishment items. Also, while I am not sure it is as appropriate for classic cars, don't LHD cars in the UK typically sell for somewhat less than RHD models? Finally, since the seller contacted you based on your 'wanted' ad, it might mean that he has not had luck with his 'for sale' ad.

Just a few of thoughts for you to drive your best bargain with the seller if you like the car.

Tom
