Weekend Project...

Killed some surface rust on my fender.... fairly straight forward... but I am proud none the less.

Looks like it was a multi-generational project.

Shouldn't you make fix your seatbelt before you worry about the paint on your car?

I'm still waiting for the all finished pics! Post again when you get it all buffed out. Did you use a BC/CC or single stage?

Nice job! Can't tell for sure, but what color is it? You'll have to take some more pix outside when you get a chance!

I noticed you masked off a section. How do you blend the paint with a hard line like that?

The color match I was a bit disappointed in as Advanced Paint of Denver really didn’t do what I had asked them... (To get a perfect match.) However I will be doing some color sanding around the edges to try and blend the paints a little better. Originally I took on this project to protect my investment by not letting the rust dig any deeper in that fender. So I must say it is a success either way as I managed to kill all the surface rust (which was quite extensive) and none of this would have been possible without the help of Martin as he truly is a magician in the shop. Our next step may be to try and get a better match of the paints (new paint is a bit flat, not as metallic as the rest of the car.) Then head back into for a quick spray down. I will post pics after I get the color sanding done. We also may have laid the metallic silver on a bit thick originally causing the metallic flakes to sink however that is still just a theory of ours. I will keep you posted on this project as well as many projects to come in the eternal quest to keep the Targa looking sharp.
