Blower noise from the front?
Had my car idling and noticed for the first time that there is a blower sound coming from the front (maybe an oil cooler fan?) that switches on and off say every 2 minutes or so. Is it an oil cooler fan? Is that stock? Should it be intermittant?

Could be the oiler cooler fan which if thermostatically controlled would switch on and off at certain temperatures or it could be the front air conditioner condensor fan which is located on the front left side inside the trunk.

Yes smoke from the AC is usually from the condensor motor burning up. Actually the hot wire to it burning up. Sounds like it is your front oil cooler fan. I believe '87 was the first year for the fan and it is thermostatically controlled.

Okay, so now I just need to figure out if the A/C blower motor is dead or just the hot wire.

Front oil cooler is located inside the right front fender behind the headlight. Turn the wheel to the right and you can look right at it. I just looked at the 911 Redbook and I am right about the fan in '87.

Thanks for the help. I'll kick off another thread to see how I find out if I fried the A/C blower or just the wire to it. (unless you know right off the bat)
