lost my boost

Last night on my way out to eat, the wife and I stopped at a red light and some nut pulled up beside us reving up his engine and all that stuff. I didn't want to race but I did really get on it in first real hard and then poof, my boost goes bye bye. My car is a 1986 930 and I just upgraded to the k27 and 1bar spring. It sounds to me like the wastgate but I really dont know. Would appreciate your opinions before I start taking things apart.

It could also be a pressure leak in the intake plumbing after the turbo, the bypass valve could be stuck or even worse your turbo could have seized up.

If the wastegate was stuck open you should be able to feel exhaust coming out of the wastegate muffler while having someone rev up the car.

Its also fairly easy to see if the turbo is seized up.

Just remove the downpipe that feeds the compressor and see if you can easily spin the spool with your finger.

Before you go that far make sure to check all the hoses that connect to the intercooler and intake and also check the large o-rings that seal the intercooler and related plumbing.

I had a one of those large o-rings break up and blow out on my 930 so I would not be suprised if one of yours might have blown out too.

Then again even with major leaks my car could still make boost.

If the car still appears to be operating normally do be aware that you could just having a problem with your boost guage.

It's probably just intercooler O-ring that separated. Common failure...

well I checked to see if any exhaust was coming directly through the wastegate by having someone else rev the car. No exhaust making it through. As far as the turbo being siezed, I will check but hope thats not it since I just put it on brand new several weeks ago. That would be a nightmare. Thanks
