Late night before the holiday: a video

This is a 6 meg video clip I did with some still pictures of my 911. It's about two minutes long. It chronicles the crash of the first version of my car, and then the new, wider version. It's in Quicktime's mp4 format.

The clip.

I clearly have too many pictures, and too much time on my hands.

Definitely too much time

I don't mind though, really great, I enjoyed it.

How did you compile it though?

Thanks for sharing

I went to the Pavillions this past Saturday and hung out with a few Pelicaneers and their 911s and 1 968. It felt great to be around the cars again. The big question to me was "Hey, when are you gettin' your next?". I figure next spring I'll start looking around. So, I pick up the paper today and just for fun (or torture, depending on your perspective) I go to the Porsches. And what's there? An ad for a 72T Targa. A targa is not what I really want, but it would be fun to look at it for reference purposes.

After watching Jack's "Motivational" video, it would appear I have a phone call to make.

It actually only took a couple of hours to make. The wife fell asleep at midnight, so I started pasting it together. I'm on a Mac, and the iMovie application automatically gives you all of the photos in your computer to draw on for the stills. You just tell it how to pan and zoom across each one.

Of course, you go through it, endlessly, rearranging pictures. At one point, the wife woke up -- she thought she'd been dreaming the same AC/DC song over and over.

I put on headphones at that point.

I just updated it with some better cuts, and some in-car footage at the end. It's now 8.5 megs. (My apologies to dial-up guys.)

Hans: Tyson and I are thinking about going out Saturday at Willow Springs with NASA.

New clip:

Jack- Would you mind posting a link to new video like you did for the one in your first post. When I try to "Save Target As..." for the picture boxes i get a popup asking for a username and password.

thanks

It should be fixed now. Let me know if it works.

Both links -- the title card in the first post, or the one I did down lower -- should bring it up.

Or copy and paste:

Jack,

I've just finished watching the montage. I like it. The reprise of "Black Betty" over the end credits was a nice touch.

What would be really cool is a BBC Top Gear-esque profile of your car, which you could do using a couple of Mini-DV cameras and some suction rigs. Buy me a ticket to LA and I'll shoot it for you!

How reliable are those suction-rigs, Matt? I'd film a "Getaway in Melbourne" if the chances of my JVC Mini-DV surviving are good enough...

Really cool Jack - but you definitely have too much time! What you need is a couple kids. They will take care of all that free time and should provide some new material for your vocation!

Well done Jack

and an inspiration for the rest of us with cars that have been (ahem) improved as a result of incidents...

I'm in the process of just such a series of improvements myself right now on my '87, from an engine swap (see the 3.2 for sale in classifieds) to suspension, front oil cooler, etc, etc.

Of course, this isn't the first time... I did an RS to RSR buildup a few years back (but not as a result of an incident that time).

Hey, any incentive to improve the horseless carriage.

Fun!

Chris
