89 3.2- What's it worth?
A 1989 3.2 Targa, Guards Red. 72,000 miles, excellent condition, inside and out. Runs well, doesn't leak, clutch, brakes, transmission and suspension seem to be solid.
Assuming a good PPI, I've agreed on $18,000. All of the discussion on the board about depreciating values has me a bit nervous- this seems like a fair deal. Thoughts? |

Sounds fair to me. Reality is plus or minus 10-15% based on condition, documentation, etc. At that price, if the PPI is clean and you really like the car, I say "go for it".
Then you can spend another $18k in mods!

Sounds like a great deal to me. If the PPI checks out, go for it!

That seems like a screemin' deal to me. An 89 last model year Carerra for the price of some very clean SC's. And better yet...a targa. I didn't realize that the Carerras were depreciating that much. Seems like a year or two ago they were going around 24K. That said from an owner who paid a heck of a lot more for his 89 Targa in 90. I still love the car, GP White, sport pkg, 80K mi and never a problem. As far as cost to own goes, this has been a bargan. I would recommend to look a t the seals on the Top and all window seals around there. Check on the alignment of the top edge of window to the top seal also the suppleness of the other seals for the top. My only problem, per say, has been in keeping these window to seal areas aligned properly every few years or so. My dealer usually had done this at the 15 and 30K checks. Good luck

two years ago, I paid 27K for an almost mint coupe with 43K miles. If the car's solid, that sounds like an excellent deal.

That sounds great! Excellence has this car at $19,373 in poor condition, $22,027 in good and $29,488 in excellent. For the car as described, not needing anything major (rebuild---or has been in a major accident), I would jump on that real fast. Post some pics if you can, these guys can spot weird things with the car if it looks molested.
