I want to flash, but I just can't do it...

My high beams work just fine in the fixed position with the headlights on on my '87. But the "flash function" does not work at all (lever pulled toward driver), regardless of headlights on or off.

All other headlight/signal functions are normal, I just can't do the flash.

Any ideas?

Turn signal/highbeam switch is faulty. Some people have had luck cleaning the contacts, but replacement is probably your best bet. The part runs $90-100

Try spraying electrical contact cleaner inside the switch first. If that doesn't work, you can always take it apart, or replace. About one hour of work. Look in 101 Projects its not hard.

I had the exact same issue. Eventually the high beams would go on when I turned on the turn signals, and then the headlights would not work only when the turn signals were on. That was when I decided to get a new stalk and thay have been fine since - and I can now flash the other p-cars!

Mine sort of works. If I pull the stalk back it takes about 3secs for the headlights to come on. Would dirty contacts cause that? When I turn the lights on with the switch they come on right away.

Maybe someone accidentally installed a Boxster, Cayenne or 996 switch in your car!
