Losing the rockers.
Has anyone taken the rocker covers off their car? Is there any reason not to? What do they do for you anyway?

They cover the oil cooler lines and make the car look lower. They're primarily cosmetic. You'll have some small holes to plug if you remove them, and you might discover some rust.

Maybe i'm alone on this, but i think the 911 looks 1000 times better without the rockers.

If you still need convincing:
 I too run w/o my rocker covers...much better looking. Shed all the cosmetic and none functional crap...or buy a boat, a gator and a Ferrari, wear a pink sport jacket ....  just kidding...it doesn't have to be one extreme or another, but the sans rocker look is easy to do. I think there are 5-6 screws on each side. Three of them are under the rubber trim, go ahead and peel that sucker off. It will be liberating! The rockers are attached using sheet metal screws so they'll be little nips left...get a large punch and easily punch them in, then fill or just clean them up.

I like ugly cars. Sleepers. Performance stickers are not my style, and I "appreciate" shiny paint more than I "like" it. The Excellence car that sticks in my mind the best is the black-primer Turbo.
I have always liked the no-rocker look. Sort of like those spaceships on Star Wars with their plumbing on the outside.

Ok. I'll bite. How do you reroute the oil lines through the rockers? Is it easy to do or a major project?

I'm a little undecided - I'd think on a stock narow body car , they finish off the look; sort of adds "umph."
But if flared and with fiberglass bumper caps, I'd most probably take them off...at least to see how it looks.

When my car was being painted, I saw it without it's rockers.
It looked pretty good, but David's right about skinny cars needing them for street cred.
