OK, I give how do you get the oil lines apart
I get the car jacked up, my new setrab oil cooler is waiting to go on so i can keep the 3.6 cool, pull the c2 cover and wheels off, and this is not to my surprise, the trombone fittings are very tight, so whats my choices here, like mega tight
1 take it out back and shoot it, (then i would have to fix holes) 2 cut the suckers 3 use heat from a propane torch 4if I new i wouldnt be asking what about penatrating oil, 21 years of being put together is a long time, How did some of you get these lines loose, if its a family secret I understand, Kevin |

Lots of penetrant (PB Blaster), time and the correct wrench(es). I squirted mine (at the external thermostat) every day for a week. I ended up Dremelling them off, since I was replacing them anyway. I think they would have come off without cutting eventually. My guess is that propane is not hot enough, but someone else can chime in here.

Heat oil lines??
Seems dangerous as oil does have a flame threshold. Use a piece of pipe to extend your wrenches, be sure that they are the proper size, and lean into it. They'll pop.

I used my feet to get extra torque on the oil lines. They take alot of work, but will come. Make sure you use the proper wrenches so as not to bugger up the fittings. Soak the lines in PB Blaster for a couple of days, it will help. Also, if you have a redneck friend next door who likes to show off his strength it never hurts...

You're not going to create a fire _inside_ the oil lines even if you use a welding torch as a heat source. Yes, extending the oil-line wrenches with pieces of pipe is a big help--that's why they're single-ended and have a tapered handle, so you can do exactly that--but a bunch of serious heat-cool-heat-cool cycles with a good penetrant (emphasis on good, forget the hardware-store crap and see if you can find some Zep) applied when the joints cool down some can do wonders, flexing that metal back and forth.

I used two adjustable wrenches when taking the oil fittings off. The last on i did consisted of someone else holding one fitting while used 4foot pipe for leverage and barely got them to crack loose.
