In the words of Austin Powers, "Please allow myself to introduce myself" (RS pics)

Greetings to all,

So I finally got around to taking my pics of RS #1334 today. She's filthy and it is too bright outside right now, so the pics don't do her justice. Special thanks to Brian Fryer who will be posting them for me momentarily.

Anyhow, this car came out of Pittsburgh, PA. I actually thought I was going to buy a viper green '73 S, but one of my buddies suggested I just step up to the plate and look for another RS. I got home that night and lo & behold, my Porsche Market Letter was in the mailbox. It turns out there was a reasonably priced RS advertised and it was viper green no less. My favorite color! I was starting to think that the karma gods might actually be wanting me to have a viper green RS!

I had a lengthy conversation with the seller the next morning and immediately wired him a deposit. I flew Rick Cabell down from Vermont to do the PPI, and one week later she was on a truck heading to California.

The car was on the cover of Excellence in June, 1991 as well as featured in a Porsche book. It was cosmetically restored in the early '90's by Paterack Brothers in New Jersey. Mechanical rebuild was done by Gene Kirschner at Autofest, also in N.J.

Overall a real strong car in great shape with a VERY STRONG motor. Word has it that the motor is either a 2.8L or a 2.9L as somewhere along the line a club racer was looking for a secret edge . Certainly feels like a 2.9L - much faster than my other RS.

Anyhow, enjoy the pics when Brian posts them.

In the words of Tom Petty: "The waiting is the hardest part."

Rob, you'll have to come up north for a canyon run with me and Tyson. We'll get some pictures with the sun going down like the ones I took recently of my car.

Sorry to keep all of you waiting. Very nice Rob, espically like the rear bumper horns. Here they are!

This combo of cars, a '73 RS and 993 Turbo, represents some of Stuttgart's finest IMHO.

Yes the car karma gods spoke and you listened well!

Handsome piece, looking forward to seeing it in person at the Autofest. Is this one too rare and nice to take on the track?

Maybe you'll have this one for a while since it won't be easy finding a pretty face to replace it.

have fun!

What are those wheels and tires? They look like 16s. When I last saw pics of this car, (1 year ago), it had slicks on it. I have some high-res photos of it somewhere, it's a really, really cool car as I have opined already to Rob. The previous owner kept it very well, but also believed in track days, the heathen.

Going to have to come down and see it soon, Rob, since I know that the chance of you having time for Jack's suggestion is slim. Nice score!

Dennis,

The wheels are 15's, 7s & 8s. I had Al Reed refinish them and I put original spec tires on the car (195/65/15's and 215/60/15's).

Thanks to all for the positive reviews!
