Solid Motor Mount Help
Can anyone post an image of a correctly installed solid motor mount? I just got a pair and I want to make sure I dont leave anything out (washers, top cap, etc..).
Thanks in advance! |

If you have the ones made by Smart Racing (or similar), try this:

Zielke,
Thats exactly what I was looking for. Although those are not the exact mounts I have the diagram answered all my questions. I pledge my eternal loyalty to the SCWDP! |

Simon,
Is this for a street car or a race car. I put solids in the rear of our street car and I am very tired of them. They are buzzy and have created some nice vibrations in the car after extended use.

Slider79SC,
They are going on a street car. I was intending on running solid mounts in the rear and the sport mounts on my tranny. But now you got me thinking. Can anyone else chime in that has this same set up for street. |

Simon,
I have that exact setup and I can tell you that it greatly improved my shift functions and it seems to have a bit more snap to it when you get on the gas. It is going to be more of a choice of if you can live with the buzz (if yours does the same) for the added benifits. One other thing is that my exhaust is VERY loud and that may contribute to the buzz. Not sure though.

I have sport mounts front and rear. I would think that's the best set-up for a street car. Leave solid for the track.

Maybe try solid tranny mounts for better shifting and sports for engine, wouldn't that be ok?

The way it was explained to me is that if you put the solids on the trans and not on the engine, then the engine can still move and put too much stress on the trans bolts and mount.
But if you put the solids on the engine then it reduces the movement and allows the vibrations that would be felt in the shifter to be tamed down by the club mounts on the trans. Who really knows until you try something and it works or breaks.... Ours has been solid motor/club trans for a year with no issues other than the buzzy feeling. And I am not easy on the car

I have solids on the rear and sports on the tranny, no noticable difference in vibration. Big time noticable difference in the shifting!

Based on my own experience, and the advice of my betters, I'd suggest sports all around for a street car, and solids in the back for a serious street/track car. A dedicated track car would be fine with all four solids, I guess. But boy, it's going to be loud.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I guess since I already have the solid mounts I'll give 'em a try in the rear.
As far as sport mounts for the tranny is there anyone who makes aftermarket sport mounts or are there only the stock ones from a cab? |

Just the cab ones as far as I have been able to find.
