I consider myself a pretty good driver. I only speed on the expressway (a rarity in LA traffic)...never cut anyone off...never tail gate and observe all traffic laws. However, ever since I started driving the 911 this past spring, you'd think I was the devil in the Red Cab. It all started when the redneck in the pickup truck accused me of tailgating him one night back in May. He actually got out of his truck at a Red Light....walked towards my car shouting and shaking his fist. I was ready to throw down...seriously. The girls in the car next to me had no idea what was going on... either did I. So the light changed, and I pulled next to the guy, rolled down my window and said "What? Why are you mad at me?" The red neck goes "You were tailgating me Man! You were riding my ass!!" There is no way I was riding this guys ass... we were on PCH and I was like at least 3 car lengths back from him. I chalked up that one as maybe he was high on crystal meth. But since then....I had an Asian lady honk at me and shake her first, because I changed lanes in front of her with plenty of room and my turn signal on. And...today, this guy in a black SUV flipped me off. HE cut in front of ME by making his left hand turn at the red light, just as the light changed. Of course, I was just going straight ahead and was shocked that the guy would first cut in front of me...and second he flipped me off! Maybe people are either jealous or they attach assumptions towards drivers of red Porsches. Either way, Im feeling no love. Ahhh...who cares. | ||

Sonic, I think perhaps it is because your car is red. I drive like an A-hole & people seem more tolerant when I'm in my Pcar (unless they're the passenger). Maybe it's because I'm gone before they have the chance to give me the finger.

i recently had a guy in a grand am force his way under me on a cloverleaf style off-ramp.........he literally squeezed between me and the guardrail on the inside.................. being i just got my car back from getting hit, this pissed me off. then there was a red light........after exchanging angry words and his using many f-bombs (about why he passed me....made no sense) i squirted water from my water bottle at him and drove off.............f-them.......hopefully the law will see these people being morons and give the appropriate ticket.

I agree re the red color. There may also be 2 other factors -- 1. you may be driving differently in the 911 w/o knowing it, and 2. driving (and other) attitudes differ in different parts of the US. The PNW (even Taco Ma) is usually more laid back.

Ive really only cut the 911 loose a couple of times when entering the expressway and having an opening. Most of the time its just putzing around this little beach town. Its probably the color.

I drive a PU daily for work. Same ***** in the truck It isn't the car, pal, it's everybody everywhere acting like that anymore. My Boxster is red and I don't have many more problems in it. And remember, all us Boxster drivers are either stupid women or anal jerks that don't wave and don't get it. You guys all told me this. Edit because of the post below: Several of you guys have told me this. How's that? Last edited by Zeke; 08-23-2003 at 08:56 PM..

I do drive differently in the 911. (Let me apologize, now, to everyone I've passed.)

Speaking of which...now that Ive seen pics of your car Jack...Im pretty sure that I saw you driving once up in North Hollywood back in the spring. It was right after I got my car, and I was sorta lost going to find someplace, maybe it was TRE...as I was turning around I saw this sweet black Porshe with extra wide flares. Looks like your car, probably was. Two guys were inside and the driver was cutting it loose.

Happen to me last night with my son in the P-Car. Moron in a pickup truck tailgating me then passing me at high rate of speed. What gives people the right to endanger my son's life and mine? This is only one of many incidents I have experienced in my Grand Pre WHITE 911 with pickup drivers. Get a life and a real car - pickup drivers! Jason 88 911 cab Edit Post: Don't mean to generalize pickup drivers - not all of you. My good friend Jack, fellow P-Car owner, Pelicanite, and pickup owner excluded. The water bottle squirting incident was funny. I could see a news report that a heated traffic argument escalated into gun fire after one driver squirted a water bottle at another. That would defenitely be excessive force . . .

Even though I drive my 911 quite fast, at times... when leaving stop lights most of the time, I opt for a fairly leisurely take off (to save the clutch and tranny) and then I accelerate harder in 2nd gear. However, I find that this frequently p*sses of the SUV's (and other cars behind me)... many seem to want to do jackrabbit take-offs up to about 30-35 mph. -MAS

				Moron Drivers

I think there is some jealousy among people who see's anyone driving a P-car or any nice sports car for that matter. In my oponion, the most rudest A'holes are those in pick-up's, suv's and these ricer punks. Here in Phoenix, we have had 3 cases of road rage resulting in murder in the last two weeks. So be careful who you flip off. My best advice is stay far away from these morons in traffic, they will get their DUE! 77 911S 66 912 V8 68 912 2.2 with nitrous

"I think there is some jealousy among people who see's anyone driving a P-car..." I agree. And the irony is that some (or maybe many) of us here are driving cars that cost us less to buy than the average new car on the road. -MAS

I have driven a Pcar on a daily basis for about 9 years. What I have noticed (mostly) is that no matter where you are driving or how fast you are going, some MORON just HAS to pass my car. I was coming back from Florida once in my '88 924S and a couple of college age kids in a Ford Festiva drove the wheels off their car just to pass me, pull in front and the take the next exit! Then there was the time late one night I was coming down I75 running about 75 in the right lane and some yutz in a Toyota got on my bumper with the highbeams on. That time I was in my '80 SC so I kept upping the speed a little at a time until the rice burner maxed out. I think we ran most of the way from Macon to Cordele at speeds near 100 mph! I finally got to where I just watch and laugh at the other drivers. If they want to show their a$$ then thats their problem. Fred Cook '80 911SC coupe
