Non-slip surface for driver side floor?
 

I just recarpeted the car with an RS kit, but since my 911 is dedicated to the track, I 'd like an alternative to floor mats for the front of the car. Ideally it would be some sort of paint or stick on non-slip surface I would put down on the floor instead of using carpet. Something black would be preferred to match the carpet in the rear.

Any ideas?

How about the spray-in bedliner stuff? I had one in my pick-up and it was very non-slip. You can even buy it in cans at the auto parts store. Use a roller to roll it on where ever you want it. It may be difficult to remove if you ever decide to do that.

I use the material you can purchase for floor tread edges. It comes in several sizes and you can cut it to fit where you need it. I use in directly infront of my pedals to keep my heel in place, epecially if it is a wet day. Usually can fint at a Sears hardware or Home Depot.

Go to AircraftSpruceandspecialty.com (?)...and look for Ray Allen's "Wing walk"...a rubberized, adhesive-backed textured surface that comes in sheet sizes. Black. Also good for duping Turbo spats for the rear fender area..

You can get non-slip additive from West Marine or other boating stores. Add this to paint and apply. Or you can go even cheaper, add sand to paint.

How about the stuff that they stick on skate boards. Kind of like adhesive backed black sand paper.

Do the whole floor in velcro...next do the bottom of your shoes...

Im spraying my floor with Line-X. I have used a product from 3M before, in a spray can. Some type of undercoating, it worked great. It took about 3 cans to do the whole floor.

will the bedliner add much weight? It looks a little heavy for a track car.

How about the rubberized undercoating you can get at any auto parts store. That should be light if you spray a few thin coats and should hold up well. Just make sure you mask off the other areas before spraying.

Enough Line-X to cover the inside of a car, or bedliner, is @18 lbs. Im not that critical on weight. I would rather have the protection.

I made some floor covers out of sheets of thin rubber. Works very well.
