Thumbs up Enter to Win at the New DriveWerks.com

Hi everyone. I am very pleased to announce a new step forward for Pelican Parts - our new redesign and enhancement of the DriveWerks website. Many of you are already familiar with the old site and what it had to offer. I think that you will be impressed with the look, feel, and new products that we are offering in our latest effort.

A while ago, Tom and I came to the conclusion that we could not effectively offer the high quality website and services for Porsches and BMWs without effectively leveraging our overhead. DriveWerks does just that - providing our customers with products and accessories that apply to all makes and models of cars. In addition, we've combined the Pelican Parts Express website together with the DriveWerks website to create a complete synergy.

I invite you to check out the new DriveWerks - either by browsing one of the categories at the top of the screen, or by using our newly enhanced search engine. This search engine allows you to easily search for items - it returns matches in broad categories so that you can find exactly what you are looking for.

ENTER TO WIN! That's right - as part of our marketing push, we're giving away some pretty cool prizes. For those of you with garage queens, we have our Complete Car Care Makeover, which includes a custom-made car cover, a set of custom-made floor mats, a Zymol car care kit, and a custom-made sunshield. This kit contains all the goodies that you need to keep your baby ready for the concours!

For those of us who feel more comfortable with a wrench than a wax applicator, we are also giving away a Deluxe Garage Toolkit. This toolkit contains only the best quality tools. It includes one of our flag-ship AC-Hydraulic High-Lift / Low-Clearance Hydraulic jacks, an SK Tools Socket Set, and a Motive Products Brake Bleeder. All good-quality, top-notch tools that I recommend no garage should be without.

How can you ENTER TO WIN? Good question. Simply click on the DriveWerks home page (http://www.drivewerks.com), and click on the "WIN FREE STUFF" icon in the upper right. You can miss it - it's big, it's red, and it says "WIN FREE STUFF". Even better still, if you get your friends to sign up, you'll get an extra chance to win.

So check it out, and let me know what you think!

-Wayne

It's very easy on the eyes and there's appealing links everywhere. I find myself Shift-Clicking on items, so that I don't lose them. Looks great, Wayne!

Looks great! Can we enter now, or do we have to wait until the 15th? Or, is the 15th the first drawing?

Diesel Injection?

Looks cool, but why is there a "Diesel Injection" category for a 911SC? Was there an engine option I'm not aware of?

Wayne, FYI the new site does not seem to like Mozilla Firebire as a browser. Everything is pushed far right. With IE 6 it is great.

Wayne, I like the new look a lot including the new header for the forum. It's much easier on the eyes than the previous.

Like Hal said, the drivewerks site doesn't seem to like Netscape/Mozilla. If I didn't have my res set to 1600x1200 I wouldn't be able to see anything but the ....

Wait, I just went back to the site, and now everything is working. If I go to a page and the width seems to wide I can go to another page and then when I go back the page seems to fix itself. Weird. Wayne you must have some of that "Self Healing server pixie dust".

Nevermind it's perfect.

Hmm - are you really going to have replacement parts for all those models of cars?

I looked for parts for my 1995 Range Rover and most of the bits I need are out of stock - seat switch (not the MBZ ones), hood badges, etc. It wasn't clear why I would use DriveWerks instead of [name of Land Rover specialist parts vendor].

Are you biting off more than can be chewed?

Porsche parts aren't in search index

I actually tried to order something from drivewerks.com, but I wasn't able to find it. The search function doesn't return any car parts at all. My search gave me hits in tools and posters among other things, but not the parts I was looking for. I went back over to pelicanparts.com, quickly found what I was looking for, and placed my order.

Nice! I really like the 'index card' format at the top. Now I've got to think of something to buy .........

the words "leverage" and "synergy" in the same paragraph. You've been reading those nasty MBA books, haven't you. Just don't start talking about proactive paradigms, or I'll have to take action.

Looks good...seems like you've got some really great backend code.

Some answers - The site hasn't been optimized for the 4% of you guys who use Netscape (yes, my logs tell me it's 4%).

The search engine will only show you parts for your car if:
- You have first selected
- Our supplier carries it
- It's in stock

We're using a drop-ship supplier for these parts on DriveWerks.com (it's the same deal as Pelican Parts Express, just integrated). We're able to supply parts for many more cars as a better service to our customers.

- The contest can be entered immediately. I forgot to remove the Sept 15th thing. It's good stuff - you guys should all enter!
