Interesting Slant Nose Story
I went down to a car show yesterday in Lincoln, NE (the Boxster won best in class, BTW), and there was a guy down there with a pretty odd looking red slantnose turbo. I asked about it and he said that neither he nor the seller knew anything was special about it when he bought it.
After doing some research, he found out that it had been a one-off special order car for Dick Barber. Supposedly, Dick Barber had sold it when he declared bankruptcy to a museum in St. Louis. It sat there for 10 years before the museum was disbanded, and somehow found its way to a clueless dealership. The car is very different. It's a very bright shade of red with 7 slats on the front fenders (signifying the 7 times Dick Barber won Le Mans - that's what the owner said). It's got a bright red interior with bright red, plush electric seats. It's only got a little over 20,000 original miles and it has a $6,000 stereo system. The owner was also telling me it has a factory boost knob and boost gauge. Needless to say, he got a really deal on a car with a lot of history. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the slant nose, but here's the "award winning" Boxster: ![]() ![]()
