Extend Rust Protection

I bought a can of "brush on" Extend to treat some rusts spots on my 911. When I opened the bottle, I expected to see something the consistency of latex paint. What I saw was a jelled mass of grey stuff. Is this correct or is my dealers stock really old?

never seen extend, but I am trying a can of rustolium zinc spray on some of my metal. I have tried POR. Worked for a while, but zinc should actually kill the rust fungus.

I've only used the spray Extend. It's seems to be a clear, yellowish and thin liquid. Hope this helps.

Sounds like it's very old stock, and the seal was broken allowing moisture laden air to enter (which created the "jellied mass" you see). The correct consistency is that of a very thin paint. I tried "Extend", with mixed results, on an old trailer; I wouldn't trust it to "kill" the rust on anything I truely wanted to preserve, such as a 911.

Thanks. I share the same concern. I was planning on using it on places where the metal is solid with light suface rust. For heavy areas, I prefer the "rust mort"/POR-15 route.

before the days of Por-15 I used that "Extend" on a '71 Camaro roof that was almost swiss chese with rust.. it's still doing fine about 10 years later.. I did a few heavy coats then urethane paint for a top coat.. I'll only use Por now, but still have the Extend around for small area quickies. If you open the Por can your committed to using it because it cures fast in the can. I put the opened can of Por in the frig. to extend useage and put some wax paper between the lid and can........Ron

About por 15, I have been haing problems getting the second and third coats on. It seems to pool up and not stick. Any ideas ?
