Great set up, but with a different brand apex coupler and the Seine Systems gate keeper. I too vote for the Seine System for the savings. I have had one on my SC for a little over a year. Best upgrade I made to my car, next to the 3.6.

Somehting else you may want to do to really tighten up the shifting/torque is to use solid rear motor mounts and the sport mounts at the trans. Coupled with what you have already done, solid/sport mounts will better improve the shifting and feel of the car even better!

I've heard the solid mounts/sport mounts cause more noise and vibration though. Is it noticeably more or just a slight bit?

I have the Seine Systems gate shhift on my car, along with a factory short shift, and I love it. I don't see anything the Robotek has that the Siene System unit doesn't, except a higher price tag. In fact, it doesn't look like the Robotek has a spring relief tab for 1-2 gears like Siene Systems. Can anyone verify if this is true?

The solid trans mounts is where you get about 80=% of the noise and vibration. Very little noise and vibration is made with the solid rear and spport mounts. I borrowed this idea from Tyson's work on BB1. There are several others running the same set up and have not complained about any increase in noise or vibration. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most noise and vibration, I would give this about a 1 or 2 on the noise vibration increase scale.

Which kit (Seine?) requires use of a hose clamp? There was a thread about a year ago about a shift kit that was good, except that it requires use of a 15 cent hose clamp, and that issue raised concerns.

So what other parts should be changed? Shift bushings?

thanks
Mike

Mike, the Seine system uses the hose clamp. I used the clamp, along with JBWeld and it'd been fine. Yes, along with this mod, replace all bushings, including the shift coupler bushings, and get the linkage properly adjusted.

Looking at this picture, where's the hose clamp?? Or is it only used in certain applications....if so, which?

It would be used where the tabs are attached to the shift level. In the pic the tabs are welded on. I used the clamp and epoxy and have had no problems.

You can see the hose clamp being used in the installation directions...

"4. Install the Gate Shift arm on the shift lever using the supplied clamp, then adjust engagement between arm and carrier plate "tabs".

Note:
The clamp provided in the kit allows temporary positioning of the Gate Shift Arm on the shift lever. We recommend tack welding the arm in place after initial installation and adjustment."

If I do get this, I'll probably get my mechanic to install it. I'm somewhat queazy about drilling the mounting holes.

If the mount holes are the only thing you are worried about, go for it. It's really a piece of cake.

I welded the arm on, but it's been used by many for quite a while w/ the clamp, w/o problems.

Not that I'd admit this elsewhere or for any other application. . . . but. . . . JB weld reinforced by the clamp serves well here.
