WooHoo this set-up rocks. Pics too

Ok its nothing major, but I installed the following.

Short shift kit...Weltmeister
RoboTek kit
And Smartracing Fabcar shift Coupler
Also replace bushing on the shifter.

Talk about 1000% better on shifting. It feels like gated shifter now. No more shifting into the wrong gear for me. Very nice upgrade and very easy. Dont know the exact time it took as I also replace a headlight switch and my turn signal switch, but with all that included it was 4 hours. Time well spent.

Cost? Part numbers you ordered?

I know about the Weltmeister stuff, but never heard of the RoboTek thing...

I have a hell of a time finding 3rd gear on my car while I can find it fine on other 915 trannys. :/

You can go here and find the RoboTek, $299
http://www.smartracingproducts.com/
The fabcar shift coupler is part# 733100 dont remember the price. Its different from the one shown on that website. Dont know what the difference is but the part number is off by 1. Maybe its a more recent coupler on the site, I see this one is NLA.
And the short shift kit is around $70. Found at almost any Porsche parts stores/websites.

How much of the improvement in shifting is a part of the short shifter (any?) and how much is it a part of the RoboTek kit (all?).

Also, can you install the leather boot back on after the RoboTek peice or do you need to cut a section out in the leather?

Thanks btw..I might have to get this RoboTek stuff on Monday.

The short shifter compliments the robotek nicely. But things would have not tighten up nicely with out the RoboTek and coupler. The stock shifter might make it a little easier to shift as the pattern right now is really tight compared to stock "wide pattern".
I should of tried the stock shifter first before I went to the short one. Just for comparison sake. But I do like it as it is.
Dont forget about your coupler in the rear. My stock coupler was worn and had lots of play, it was time for an upgrade or replacement.

As for the rubber boot, mine is already back on, no modifications.

Awesome. This looks very promising. Hopefully I can have all this done within the next 1-2 weeks.

I'll try with the stock shifter first..

What order did you do the install in?

Robotek shifter first, or Shift Coupler first?

Great upgrades. I want to show you guys an different option to the RoboTek. Seinesystems's Gate Shift

Pelican carries it for @ $150 and it has a gate for 1st & 2nd. If you don't want the gate, you could leave it off and it would be the same (I think) to the Robotek but $100 cheaper. me .02

Surflvr, have you tried this Seinesystems shifter? Any good? Does it help at all with 3rd gear and above, or only 1st and 2nd?

bfrenz, did you have to do any drilling to attach this Robotek shift kit?

The Seine Systems product seems to require drilling 2 holes to attach it.. :/

I hear the seine system is just as good for a cheaper price. RoboTek also requires 2 holes drilled.

Has anyone else had experience with the seine system? I see they also carry a kit for the 901 transmission.

I have installed it but haven't driven w/ it yet. Very nice little kit, you do drill two holes. It keeps the shifter right at 3rd & 4th and has the gate for even more 5th to 2nd downshift protection. For the money, I don’t think you can beat it.

A few others I know have been driving w/ it and love it. They say that once you get used to it, you don’t even realize that the 1st/2nd gate is even there.

Seine Systems is the ticket! I installed this with new bushings on my 915 last month and very pleased. BTW - I don't use a short shft kit - see no benefit.

I have the Seine Systems shift kit installed. It's great. The *default* shift plane becomes gears 3-4 since 1-2 and 5-R are spring tensioned. I have no fears of hitting 1st instead of 3rd or 2nd instead of 4th. I also replaced my shift coupler bushings with Poly Graphite units. Big improvements in shifting.

I have been racing with my Seine Systems shift kit for over a year and it works great. Since it was installed and adjusted it has work perfectly.
On a 2nd to 3rd shift.....
Out of second I just push forward into neutral and the shifter springs to the right and in lline with 3rd. Requiring just another push forward into 3rd.
Both kits do the same thing, one just costs twice as much.
