Driving shoes, or take off shoes to fit Targa pedals?

Does anyone else have trouble with big feet on Targa pedals?
I test drove my car with Converse All-Stars on. It felt fine. I could even fit my knee between the smaller Momo steering wheel and the shifter. (Difficult with a stock wheel. I'm 6'3".) The trouble is that all my other shoes are too wide to operate the clutch. I've been taking my left shoe off to drive.
Does anyone keep driving shoes in their cars? I don't think I can get away with wearing All-Stars to work every day.

You know what they say about guys with big feet.......

They wear big shoes!

old AX cheap trick

High school wrestling shoes. They fit just like driving shoes, without the fire retardant materials and are less costly.

I am certain that they come in all sizes.

Shawn.

Its not just targas. I have to wear skinny shoes when I drive my 964. I actually prefer bare feet as I get better feedback in bare feet.

Yup. My wife makes fun of me in my "little clown car" where I have to take of my left shoe to drive. Like anything else, I have gotten used to it. One time though, I drove to the store and completely forgot to bring my shoes.

I were Vans skateboarding type, size 13. There are pretty slim, have a nice sticky sole and are OK to wear in public. If I'm going to work I just change shoes when I get there. I wouldn't walk around in public in wrestling or racing shoes.

man, glad I'm not the only one. I can work the pedals in my coupe with regular shoes, but it is a bit tight.

On a related and more expensive note, does anyone make a modified pedal cluster with more spread between the pedals?

I like barefoot best But if shoes are required experiment, some aren't an issue others are. I never thought about why?

Agree on the wrestling shoes ... that's what I use for the track and at $30 you can't go wrong.

leathers soled shoes plain suck in my 911 and 924, my guess is that it's because the pedals are floor mounted, not "hanging" like on most new cars, so they hinge differently and are not as comfortable.

i only wear old school sneakers, i ditched my fancy Boss crap and suit all together.. who needs clothing fashion anyway, when your sitting one of the most stylish cars ever built

I just got a pair of these. Boat shoe styling and comfortable to walk in, but a narrow, driving style sole.

Puma Speed Cats come in a bunch of styles (Lo-Mid-Hi) and colors and are cheap, as far as driving shoes go. I liked the first pair I got so much that I bought a second.

I only drive with my TOD Italian slipper. It has rubber grips on the sole. Perfect. Retail $350. On sale $195 at South Coast Plaza, CA.

I'm 6'3" w/ size 12 dogs, and even with the dead pedel I'm OK. With some shoes I do need to be a little precise with the clutch, but I've never needed to take off a shoe. I have Simpson driving shoes for the track, and a pair of slip-on driving shoes for most other days when I really want to drive (as opposed to simply commute).

Regarding the hat... I've got a couple of Borselino Doria ivy caps. The italian hats are a little snugger in the back than the Irish ones, and no dorky kangaroo on the back -- Anything above 50 degrees without rain is a candidate day for taking off the top!
