Color change: How much devaluation?

I am doing one of the worst (and best) things possible, helping a buddy find a 911 to play with. We have come across a couple that were pretty nice, the one thing that bothers me a bit is the fact that both of them have had color changes.

Yes, the obvious assumption is that they have been in wrecks or whatever, but these check out clean. One owner simply did not like the color (from gold to burgandy).

What is your opinion on the amount of devaluation for a color change?

I'd say it depends on how "collectable" that particular model of 911 is. Also how hung up on originality the potential buyer is. No real hard and fast percentage drop that I know of....

I hate cars that are two tone...you know, the red car with the gold engine compartment.....that kind of thing. If it's just a basic (is there such a thing?) 911, and it's well done, then I think the value is higher if the original color was enough to make you reach for the dramamine.
