So u think u don't have rust?

Crap, just when I thought my car was perfect. There I go snooping around the garage at midnight looking for imperfections......I open the trunk, pull away some of the weather stripping on the fender channels and i found rust on both sides. This is not salty roads rust, this is rain/washing rust. don't be fooled, if you look hard enough its there. damn.

has anyone else had this fender problem?

Marc

Rust? You haven't seen rust until you've owned a Land Rover (or any British car for that matter)...

I'll second that! I can't believe the amount of rust on the chassis and underpinnings on our Disco. Jeez O' man I spray WD-40 around the frame to slow it down, but we all know, rust never sleeps!

Drive your Porsche; don't save it for the person you are going to sell it to. Cheers, Jim

Those channels are easy to fix - wire brush on a drill and handsanding followed by a rust killer and paint. Recover with the seal.

When you find rust, you have to go after it even if it means primering the area and driving it that way. Most SC owners need to look long and hard at the lower windshield deck, just aft of the front hood. Plenty to worry about in there though you wouldn't know it (unless you've made the connection between misty gauges and the front deck area). The windshield seals also do not keep the rust out from the lower corners - lift a seal and take a look.

I'd go after any and all the rust you can find. Even the galvanized bodies get rusty and this stuff gets expensive very quickly.

POR 15 .............let it dry. Touch up the paint..............let it dry.
Go get a couple good driving CD's. Then go out and wear out some tires.

At least you caught it now and not later. Deal with it and get out and enjoy the car.

There are exactly two types of early 911s:

- Those with rust
- Those with owners that haven't yet found the rust

You have the first.

No, because "you can't get there from here."

I should also point out that "rust never sleeps."
- Perhaps because it is partly caused by a bacterium.

I though my car had rust but since my car is red, it must not have any.

Are you blaming the Second Law of Thermodynamics when you should be blaming Law of Entropy?
Since the topic is rust - Should one generally be concerned with any rain that has slipped inside the doors through the rubber window glass seal or just don't worry about it?
I don't drive in the rain but I've been surprised a couple of times by sneaky rain that caught me on my way home.

I didn't think I had any rust either....
Then I looked under the rear seat carpet.
Massive collateral damage...Not for the faint of heart.
