fouled plug help???
Hello,
I just rebuilt my 1982 911 SC engine, and I was in the middle of running through Wayne's break-in process, as detailed in his rebuild book. The car ran fine yesterday. Today, when I started it up, it seemed a little sluggish. When driving home from work, it seemed noticeably low on power. I made sure to keep the revs between 2-3k, and went easy for the 2 mile drive home. When I was almost home, it started to sputter slightly. I pulled the plugs. All are black, with only a little white on the tips. The plug for no. 6 was wet with gas/oil. The car has roughly 450 miles on the rebuild. Is this normal? Am I running rich? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. -Mike |

I would check all the connections. Fuel, vacume, and electrical. It also could be a bad WUR or something like that. It does sound rich

Check for a vacuum leak, that could make it run rich and is more likely since you probably haven't adjusted the mixture screw I'm guessing. Spray some carb cleaner around the hoses and listen for idle speed to change.
