Help Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed

Finally replaced my lost copy of NFSPU (Found it for $5.00)

I now run a Win2K box and the game hangs on the opening screen (right after the openning movie)

Has anyone gotten this game to work on Win2K? If so tips would appreciated.

Thanks

This is because the game is taking upo all virtual memory
1, Upgrade to newest version
2, Find the file "gimme.dll" in nfs folder and rename to anything
Game should now work
I had same problem, then I went to winxp.

I have XP pro and the exact same thing happens. I've tried everything and I mean everything including replacing my mb and video card, upgrading drivers like nobody's business and reconfiguring eveything I could. I finally gave up.

You can solve this by making a fixed size virtual memory.

In XP (cant remember 2k)

Right click my computer
Advanced tab,
Performance->Settings
Advanced tab,
Virtual Memory->Change
Use custom size to set same maximum and minimum values (rougly double your RAM)

Patches and stuff here: http://www.nd4spdworld.com/?section=util&v=5

This should really be in OT btw.

Funny that this should come up, I haven't played NFS for quite some time, but I started playing again a few days ago, just last night I was running 160mph through the industrial side of town in a '73 Carrera RS, and then a little bit later I was running through the same part of town in a modified (practically a 934) '78 turbo at 180 mph.

What a blast.

It has been good therapy since I haven't driven my car in about a month, but I should be driving again Monday. YaHoo!!
