That number doesn't show up in the charts I have. What is the Type #?

630 0001 thru 630 2480 shows as a 1970 911S, Type 911/02, mechanically fuel-injected 2.2 liter motor, but that's as close as I can find.

Its a 78sc which is for sale with a 3.2 L engine in it !

Im trying to work out what car the engine came from !

63Dxxxx would be an 83 Euro(rest of world) engine.

6303506 looks like a euro '80 3.0L to me. My euro '80 is 6301010.

Get the engine type number. 930/09 or 930/20, etc.

is it possible to replace the 3.0 cis with a 3.2 DME ?

Is there any chance this could still be a 3.0 L converted

Interesting. Looks like a 3.0 distributor with MSD ignition. I don't think 3.2 distributors had vac advance units, or were adjustable for timing (the slot on the mounting stud).

It may be possible to use the DME from the 3.2 with a old style distributor and just ignore the ignition signal, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it. It is also a step backwards from the DME controled timing curve of the 3.2. You would have to change the drive gear on the crank because a 911 SC 3.0 distributor turns the opposite direction of every other 911 engine.

It could also be an aftermarket EFI setup using the 3.2 manafold. I think Clewett does this, but their systems also have crank-fired ignitions with coil packs (at least when I looked into it).

Curious.

Get the engine type number.

Tom

mystery engine...

the 911 redbook pg. 71 indicates that it could be from a 911SC Aug 79 through July 80 #6300001-on (930/09) 4,831 produced.

Did you find the engine type number? That is the best way to narrow down what you have.
