Is there some good specification on high tuned 911's.

So if you guys have any link or have your own racer and can share some info, i sure would be pleased.

I dont have anything to look at before i start tune mine.. :o(

All of my friends drive rice or other eurocars so.... no help from them..(one of them have a escort cossie with 734.5hp, i think it's the worlds fastest cossie...)

So come on share me some... please.

Do a search for "Juan" or "HP Junkies" and you'll have lots of reading.

Jocke - as a 930 owner you probably have a good idea on what can be done with these cars. On the 3.3 930s you are limited to 450 crank HP or lower if you keep the stock CIS system. My 86 930 just dynoed at 406 RWHP and 426 RWTQ but I was leaning out to 13:1 at the top end. I have a Euro car with the better fuel system, so my car is able to do a little better than stock US cars with CIS. I just had my fuel head modified for better flow and figure that I may be able to get to 410 RWHP with an AF less than 12.5 (I hope). And that puts me at the end of the CIS system. I can't complain as that is about 480 crank HP.

If I want to go further I would need to switch to EFI - not an easy project. My 930 has 3.4 Ps&Cs, twin plug crank fire ignition, all the heavy duty racing rods and bolts, etc. etc. There are people with 930 engines similar to mine that went EFI and are seeing 600HP or more.

Once you get to the 993TT and 996TT engines, then 500 HP is pretty easy. Stephen Kaspar of Imagine Auto has his 996TT at 600 RWHP without going into the engine. You can check out his stuff at www.imagineauto.com.

Of course the sky is the limit - oops - I mean how much money you want to spend is the limit -

Jocke,
As I remember you car has
big hp now.
I'll be happy to post spec's
for 600hp, or 800 hp.
Which one would you like?

What exactly are you after ? A few things that come to my mind before we get to deep.

How much hp the other guys has it should not be a concern, the more he has the better why, because of traction 95% of the people suffer from this syndrome when we had 541rwhp we were beating 700rwhp cars and thats just an example, our cars HOOK very very good.

Is my opinion that the most common mistake is the lack of research and a lot of times it to late when we find out about this or that, another big mistake IN MY OPINION is the turbo and Cam dept,on the turbo dept we could talk about it for years to come on the Cam dept for some reason a lot of people use low and mid range cams and I have always ask why? if you have all the juice at the bottom end fantastic we will burn the tires down and we go back to the first issue Traction.

You put some street DOT tires lower them to 14-16psi and you will have a different car that I can assure you, if you are racing from a roll force them to run YOUR RACE a 25-30mph roll 116 fuel and DOT tires and you be ok of course we must have hp,and God knows we MUST have it.;)

Thanks Guys!! You are amazing!!!

jluetjen: I searched but not find any spec.

ZCAT3: Thanks for sharing, interesting reading.

Amac: I think the 600hp is closer to my plan than the 800hp, but what the heck post them both!!

Juan: Great links, i never seen them before. "Eddie have a real fast car!"

Jocke, I was trying to steer you to Mr. Juan Ruiz who has been very generous about sharing his experienced views about how to boost HP to some very serious levels.

But I see that he has come here instead... SmileWavy

Thank you very much for the kind words,I remember many many nights just sitting in front of the car just wondering who could help me, I promise to my self that once I could resolve all my issues I will help anyone coming may way and I do try my best to share the little that I know.

Jocke

600hp is a good number I have to tell you that is a HUGE difference in driving a 500hp and a 600hp car,but assuming we can reach that goal with your car, that car will runs 10s on the 1/4 mile thats for sure,NOW if you take that same 600hp car and you race from a roll now you have some real serious machine and it will be a nightmare to those wishing to run you,one you have beat a few of them the rest will NOT race you, this is how it all develop for us, have the 911 be a more inexpensive plataform we will have lots of them out there drag racing.:)

ZCAT3 09-24-2003 03:44 PM

I may as well chime in as I am the only guy still working with CIS. I just went to the dyno today after having my CIS Fuel Distributor modified for better flow. Well it worked - my RWHP stayed the same as my last runs - 403, but my RWTQ went up from 425 to 438. I am running a K27 7200 turbo and no matter what I do the max boost I can get at peak power (5200 RPMs or so) is .9 bar. The great thing about today's run is that my max AF ratio was about 12 to 1 (previously it was 13 to 1). In fact, I am actually running a little rich at these levels. I never thought I would see the CIS system do so well. It looks like I could get some more HP under CIS, but would need to switch turbos. My car is a torque monster now so I see no need - I have over 400 RWTQ at 3300 RPMs and hold above that to about 5300 RPMs.

So with these numbers we are looking at 475HP and 515 ft lbs torque.

juan ruiz 09-24-2003 03:51 PM

Any time that anyones gain hp is a time for joy, only those of us that deal with this can appreciated the effort that takes, my hats off to all of you guys that are dealing with this CIS system as I could never have the guts to deal with it,and dont feel alone theres 4-5 guys around in the boards dealing with this also,so congratulations on your efforts.........:)

ZCAT3 09-24-2003 04:04 PM

Thanks Juan - the nice thing about CIS is that it requires no tuning (is that a good thing?) and delivers very smooth power. The bad thing is that it cannot be tuned and has a limit on power it supports. The guy who modifies the CIS fuel heads is actually quite a find as the 911 SC and earlier guys can benefit as well. From looking at my AF curve, I would guess my CIS system could support maybe another 50 HP - but I would have to change turbos and would lose the low end of my power band in the process. I will pst the dyno sheet later if anyone is interested.

P.S. I have also discovered the max HP a K-27 7200 will support -

RarlyL8 09-24-2003 05:03 PM

There is power to be gained by tweeking the CIS, the optimum word being "tweek". These are old systems with moving parts requiring adjustment as they age. Not nearly as complicated as they look but very precise in function. Unless you plan to go significantly over 400hp CIS works very well. Not the best looking fuel injection I've ever seen but it is simple and works well.

As for the K27-7200, I think you found the maximum flow that the unit could handle. They are designed for mid range power and tend to run out of steam "beyond" stock redline rpm ranges. This is only noticeable in the upper gears where the engine pulls slow enough for you to shift before hitting the rev limit. HA!
