I have a 1979 911SC European Model. I noticed recently after driving the car for some time, when I shut it off and let it sit for 45-60 minutes when I try to start it again, it will not start.
I can hear the electric fuel pump running, but the car just cranks and cranks but no sign of it kicking over (lack of spark or fuel?). If I wait several minutes and keep trying it will eventually start. When it is running the car seems to run normal. Any ideas. It just started happening last month. Thanks, TBAHR |

Hi,
I've read that this can be caused by: a) Bad seal in the fuel Pump b) Bad fuel Accumulator c) Fuel Inyectors leaking There are many threads about this same topic. Bye -J

My guess is your check valve on your fuel pump. I had to replace mine 2 years ago.
Can the check valve be replaced independently of the fuel pump? Your symptoms are exactly what mine were. The check valve was the culprit for me, a pretty easy fix too. Good luck Shawn

What would be the difference in symptoms from a bad check valve as compared to a bad accumulator?
Yes I have searched but there seems to be conflicting information. |

From what I've seen in other CIS cars a bad accumulator will allow a "warm" start after prolonged cranking.

The funny thing is that I have never understood how a check valve "goes bad". Does some crap get stuck under the seat and not allow it to close? In my case it was a bad fuel accumulator. Check valve was fine. Mike

My 79 did the same thing. It was the check valve. Many people with much more knowledge than I told the accumulater rarely goes bad.
