Paint source - ever use these guys?

Picked up a tube of touch-up paint from the dealer last week. I also want a spray can to paint my center caps. Parts guys says can't get it, but gave me a ewbsite that could;

http://www.paintscratch.com/

I checked it out, typed in my paint code, and it came up. Has anyone ever used this outfit?

Also, how should I prep the center caps prior to painting the entire cap? Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Dealer CAN get your touch up. Just picked mine up on Friday from local P dealer. Your parts guy is a lazy !@#$ if he says it's not available.

Picked up your PM already. Thanks.

Any competent auto paint shop can make you up some paint to factory specifications, and also sell you a reusable, rechargeable spray bottle. If your factory paint has oxidized or has some other age-related issue, then fresh factory paint will not match perfectly. In that case, it may still be possible to match your paint, but then you WILL need to work with the auto paint store folks, rather than an Internet site. Again, paint guys can match paint. It's what they do.

I had Wesco color match one of my wheels, they made a pint of lacquer & filled two spray cans.It was about $50, I still have enough paint left for two more spray cans. I used a lacquer primer after I roughed up the old paint with 600 grit sandpaper. The problem I had was that when I sanded them I found the PO had painted them & I believe the color he used was darker than the factory, oh well, I'll get it right next time. They have a satin look finish right now, but I'm going to clear coat them in a couple of weeks to get them shiny again.

As mentioned before http://www.towerpaint.com/index2.html can match color samples or mix to your color code for an excellent price.

I'm using them for the third time and I'm very happy wih their quality products. I'd highly recommend.

Mike, your local automotive paint supplier should be able to make you up some paint and package it in a spray can. Either air dry or catalysed is available.

Jeff
