Roof spoiler and 3rd light hookups
I just ordered a roof spoiler from Ebay (I think I outbid Zeke..) which includes a third brakelight.
How hard is it to do the wiring for the brake light with this spoiler and a '86 911? Anyone done it?

Not hard at all. I have one of those on a customers car. I installed it as part of a total repaint so the back window was already out. I fed the wires through the window seal as I installed the window. It might be a bit harder if you don't plan on removing the rear window to install it.

here is an exploded view. there are small "blocks" with bolts in them that adhere to the glass. the spoiler pieces are fastened with the bolts.
running the wire may be the tricky part. i will see if i can find some instructions regarding install. max

moazam, there are about six pages of instructions/diagrams in the factory manual. If your roof spoiler comes with no instructions, let me know and i will email the instructions to you.

Moazam--
do a search - there are several very detailed threads on this. the short answer is that in there is a hole below the lower left hand corner (driver's side) of the rear window where the wires for the rear window defroster/defogger pass into the engine compartment. From the engine compartment its near the left hinge - you'll have to remove the rear shelf to gain access to it from the passenger compartment. Tying into the braking circuit is easy - there are only 2 wires. You just tap into the left rear brakelight circuit and ground the other (there is a ground behind the fuel filter on my '85 Targa). As I said, do a search - I think RickM posted pix of the wire tap from radio shack that you'll need, etc. try these threads: rear brake light thread CHECK OUT THE EMBEDDED THREADS in the thread for more details

Here are two good threads regarding the electrical aspect of your project...

If you have an 86 like mine the brake light is already in the back window on the inside. The 2 wires that go to that light just need to be fed out to the new light. No real mystery as far as wiring.

How much downforce does this spoiler provide and doesn't it block the vents in the roof above the rear window?
