What happens when a 20 year enthusiast "gets out of the biz"

My porsche "mentor" and friend just got out of the business of his shop, and racing cars after 20 years of running it as 1) A renault shop, 2) a ferrari shop, and 3) a porsche shop.

As such, he is moving away and we offered to help him sell off his stuff that accumulated over the years from the garage and from racing.

Below is a sample of that. There are all sorts of trick and nifty bits tucked away! I am also rebuilding his racecar and helping him sell that too!

Thanks to Souk, Ray, and Tristan for helping me cart the haul into the basement. I imagine it will take a month to classify everything (boxes and boxes of used and new parts). Will be posting lists here first!

He also gave me a ton of specialized tools and parts for my effort, some beautiful artwork, factory clothing, etc.. Just amazing. I'm really going to miss his knowledge!

Are the fenders fiberglass or steel? If steel, would you be willing to part with it? What condition is it in?

Do you have a left rear bumper for a '73?

Edited to expand my want list

Chris, THere are a set of headers and exhaust in your 4th picture. Let me know what he wants for them and what diameter they are.

Cheers, James

Chris will answer, but that is a short stroke 3.2 motor built from a 3.0 with Max Moritz p's and c's...I want that too! That motor was in the race, and man is that a beautiful car! Even banged up'd I drool over it!

Here's what it should look like, and what it will look like soon...then my lady better hide my money or it'll be parked in my garage!

Hey gang,

THis was really just a teaser. I need a week to start creating an inventory list and will post it in the "for Sale" Section. I will pst a message here to let you know that it's up...

If you saw something (and those pictures only show about HALF of it) that you like, hold out for about 1 week untill I can get it all moving. I will not sell anything for about 1 week so if you've seen a "must have" it will still be there then.

It's just a tad overwhelming right now as you might imagine. I just found an entire box of brand new brake rebuild kits, seals, pistons, you name it. Just a freekin' Bonanza!

Have you considered buying the shop from your friend? In ways it would be very nice to own a shop. My personal problem would be I'd tinker too much on my own car in lieu of fixing the client cars.

Buy the shop, I'll come clean your floors, that way you can laugh and tell em you have an engineer on staff instead of a mechanic.

No offense meant to anyone, purely amusement!
