Where to get oil cooler cleaned?

Hi,
Rebuilding my 2.7 RS engine after the #3 big end bearing packed it in for the day.

Where can I get my oil coolers cleaned? Are there any locally in Chicago?

Also, are there any local Chicago machinists that can fab parts?

Thanks

Tristan

Personally I would junk them and buy new. JMHO. Because if they were not cleaned good enough, all that hard work and $ would be down the drain.

I'm now putting on my nomex suit for the flames

Don't forget the engine oil cooler (PP price: $900+). Assuming you don't mind using a $400 Mocal in place of the factory external cooler, is piece of mind worth $1300? If it's good enough for airplanes (FAA certified) it's good enough for me.

I use my Mocal in line with the stock one I got from Parts Heaven....they are preceeded with a thermostat and I also use a pre oiler (Accusump).

Thanks everyone. I just installed my 70 row Mocal unit upfront in the spoiler and was very happy with the results. Chris, how much was the cleaning?

Thanks
Tristan

Chris, do you know if they will clean an oil tank as well as the coolers?

Which car are you talking about Mike (356/914/911)?
(I thought you were talking about the 911 until you mentioned the Accusump thing.)

I think cleaning was around $80 each a few years ago. You need to clean everything, hoses, thermostats, remove oil gallery plugs in motor, everything. Despite a sump full of bearing chips, I didn't find any bits in the oil tank or lines.

I stuck one in the 911 too....liked the idea of oil pressure on start up.....especially when i added up how much I had in the engine.
