Hypothetical question...weird color idea.
What do you guys think about a Flat or Satin black '73 Carrera RS replica? Now before you all FREAK OUT on me, hear me out.
I was thinking the satin black with clearcoat.(not spraybombed like my truck )A proffesional paint job with the gloss black RS decal set for subtlety. Maybe switch over to the chrome horn grills to offset the blackness. Can photoshop pull off a flat or satin black car and look right? If it can could someone photoshop a RS for me to visualize? Thanks guys.

A friend of mine (professional painter) painted his Toyota to satin yellow/orange. It was very good looking but it was a b-itch to keep clean.

If I remember correctly, there was a picture of a satin black car in an Excellance mag about 6 months back. It made it like a car that had not been waxed in 30 years.

Wasn't that car spraybombed? Alot of the custom bikes now have a satin black paint scheme. It has more of a sheen than a shine. The bikes I have seen look sinister. I will see if I can find a pic of one of the bikes for reference.

Solid slate gray from the '70 model year might be close to this effect, and it's a Porsche color.

The 930 in Excellence is in primer, I think--and it was professionally done, and intended to look that way. I believe the "Carrera" scripts on the rockers/doors were done in gloss black.
Ducati has been doing a flat black treatment on their "Dark" versions of the Monster for a few years. It looks badass.

That is what I am talking about!
Can someone photoshop that color onto a RS for me? Please?

I would do satin black WITH metallic or metal flake in it. I think that would be really interesting. I wouldn't have my car that color -- but it's one I'd enjoy seeing at a show, etc.

Satin black with all black details and interior. Tinted glass and glossy black script would look really mean. Probably a pain to keep up though and would need a real master painter to get it right and not looking like a bad diy blowover completed on a wet afternoon.

Not everyone liked the car in Excellence, but I thought it was very cool. A well done flat/matte black car can be cool. Black accents including all black wheels.

Depending on how you do it, it could look badass or just plain ghetto/stupid. This is what I would say, a very good use of the application:

Wow--I'd love to see more pics of that 996TT!
I think you'd want to emulate the color of a recently vaselined Fuchs center. Flat--but with a subtle glow... |

Primer. Nice wet coat. If you don't like it , then at least it's ready to paint.

I have seen a 40 Ford that the WHOLE body was black satin powder coating. It was a wagon and the new wood on the back was awsom looking.
As for a Porsche, go for it guy. If ya' don't love it later your not out much. Look at some early pics of Curtis A's car with the dark paint and dark R Gruppe logo. I think that is what you are getting at and it looked "Great" on his car. Randy Jones 1971 911 |
