"Missing" right rear relay on '74 911

I was changing the tail light lenses on the rear of my '74 911 when I found a small six-pin relay directly behind the right tail light assembly that has no relay in the socket. I drove the car through a tornado this summer (another story) and since then, I don't have right rear tail lights or license light. I have changed fuses and bulbs and still no lights. Could this relay have popped out? Is this relay necessary or could the PO have removed it and didn't bother to replace it? It looks like a small six-pin relay with the 6 pins spaced even around the edge of the relay socket. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I believe said "relay socket" is actually the wiring harness connector for the taillight assembly. Look inside the engine compartment rearward from the oil filter and you will likely see the matching side of the connector. Connect these two sides together through the sheet metal and you will likely restore your RR tailights. Jim

Jim, I'm an idiot! You were 100% correct. I hooked up the taillight assy to the harness at this "relay" which is really a socket-type connection and all is well. Thanks for answering my very stupid question!!!
