72 E coupe score

an old customer called a couple of days ago, and wanted to know what his 72E sunroof coupe would be worth, that had been sitting for 10 years, and didn't run. i said i'd be right over. not bad for $3500 eh? it has a few issues, but i've seen way worse come around ok.

Score!

She looks like a winner and the body looks very straight.

Does she need paint?

nice, I want an early car that is "bone stock"

I cut my '69 up and made it a racecar, the unmolested early cars are getting rarer every day...

What are the differances (cosmetics) between the T and E models beside the motors?

Nice way to take advantage of an old customer

Lucky for you!

Of course he DID sell it to you. There wasn't a gun involved was there?

It doesn't have a hood badge!

(I'll give you $5,000 for it)

Sweet. That's about what I paid for my prject-starting 72 roller -- and you got a drivetrain, to boot!

Now, John...I know your going to fix up this car really nice and then sell it...all I ask is that you keep me in mind...

Or, once your done with it, how about a trade for a GP White '87 Targa? It's been serviced by the best...

Nice looking car. You mentioned to me awhile back you had an old customer who had an E that was just sitting, this must be the car. Does it still have the MFI intact?

I saw this car yesterday. I believe the "old customer" wanted the car to be in competent hands. . . to see this 911E have a chance at life once a gain.
(it definitely needs work )

yeah, the clearcoat is lifting, so it'll get a complete paint job eventually. it's a one owner car, and he just lost interest and let it sit. the engine turns over, the stacks were stuck, but they freed up with 15 minutes of work. gotta pull the tank and clean it, replace fuel lines and fuel pump. might drop the engine this weekend and at least clean it up. i'm sure the disc is stuck to the flywheel too, after all these years. figure i'll get it running, evaluate it, and see if it's a keeper. i was kinda looking for a 72 or 73. funny how things just drop in your lap sometimes. now if i could only find that 23 window bus cheap.
mark, that other E was a 73 s/r coupe. it's real nice, and if it ever came up, i'd have to sell this one to get it.

"I hate you John Walker,I hate you!"

If it's true that he who dies with the most toys wins then I think you've got a big lead on most of us. Okay maybe you don't have the most toys but you've definently got the coolest.

72'E Coupe in Silver. Put simply, a Classic.

I've got to agree with ya on that (even if it does have skinny bumpers ) It *is* a classic.

I've somehow always prefered the 911E over the "coveted" 911S.
They seem like pretty much the same car. . .just that the 911S have a "volume knob that goes to 11" so to speak.

John,

To check on the engine condition, did you taste the oil?

Thumbs up

John, welcome to the '72 club! Now you can be an oil tank snob like me!

Please though, try to resist the temptation to modify it. This one sounds like an excellent full-stock restoration candidate. Right color, right model, right year, one owner, etc. Nice score!

Yeah a barn find that found you. One of the perks of having a shop. A 23 window fish aquarium will probably turn up next week.

thats the one that made me fall for the 911 way back when. i know mcqueen's was a 71 or so in lemans the movie but, thats when i knew i wanted one. i was 8 or so watching the movie and that was the 1st car shown in the flick, the green one. i fell asleep soon after that scene, hell i was 8, that movie sucked when i was 8.
