Man, this Stinks! My cat smelled better!

My Dansk stuff stinks!

I just popped a Dansk pre-muffler (cat eliminator) and sport muffler into my 3.2. I love these products - they are a pleasure to behold and work with and look fabulous on the car.

The sound is a nice change from the factory equipment - a little quieter than I expected, but produce a very nice "rumble" that suits the car. Power seems like a nice change from factory equipment as well, particularily with Steve Wong's help.

But, I'm now burdened with the unpleasant odor of burning WD-40 or something like that, whenever the heater is put to use. No such smells existed prior to the muffler equipment swap. And unfortunately, Calgary in October means that the heater is pretty much always in use.

Has anyone else had this kind of experience?

Drive it and get it hot - mine went away after a couple of hundred miles -

BTW - I love the performance difference with the Steve W chip and the dansk premuffler and sport muffler. Did you go with single out or dual?

Thanks for giving me an excuse to take the car for a long ride!

You know, it's hilarious really.

My car initially seemed pretty quick with a MAF/Autothority chip, but soon began to seem just OK. Now with the new Dansk goodies and a new Steve Wong chip, the car seems like "greased lightening" again. - Just about too quick for mortal man.

But I know it wont last - the next HP "fix" will be needed in a year or so.

I always used to get a kick out of that with bikes - it was time to buy a new, quicker one when the first ride of the spring stopped giving me that "oh, my God, I better hang on!" feeling. Unfortunately, with bikes you reach that acceleration limit pretty quick - those things will just about all rip your retinas off if that's what you want to do.

By-the-way, I went with the single in/out - I prefer the look of the single out and was a little worried about the loudness of dual out with the cab. Do you find your's too loud?

No - just right... and the low rumble is just enough to set off some car alarms. Love it!

I was the same way with bikes in my younger years. Now I'll settle on the 4-wheel variety.

I hear you as far as speed is - the more I have, the more I want. I imagine at some point I'll have a Turbo - just pacing myself now.

Congrats - now go heat that bad boy up!

MikeZ - you are actually an unknowing participant in this - that damn dancing banana and the slogan "A stock car sucks" was sort of an inspiration to mod my COMPLETELY stock 87 cab. (even the radio and speakers were original on my car!) I kept all the crap to turn it back if needed - but having fun now...

I'm sure this isn't the first time you have heard this - but you are a bad influence ... in the best way possible!

Hey - I just came back from a 100 mile trip out to the Rocky Mountains and back (Banff). Unfortunately, I had to drive on some kinda twisty back roads on the way back, whatta chore!

Yeah, you're right - that new muffler smell is a little bit better now, but I think I might have to make a few more runs out in the mountains to cure this problem.

Yeah, that's it, that's the ticket... a couple more trips in the mountains. Then it'll all be better...

Thanks for the idea!

Mike? If you catch the poor cat...tomato juice bath will help neutralize the smell. Enjoy the scratches!
