remeber that free 3.3 turbo engine i was given?

well, seeing as all you lot were so pissed off at me for being given what was essentially a spot on 930 turbo engine for nothing a little while back i thought id better let you know that ive finally got my hands on it.......................and its a 944 turbo engine. great. wow. woopeee.

i knew it was too good to be true.

Early_S_Man 10-16-2003 12:15 AM

Well, it could have been worse ... could have been a 924 Turbo engine!

Supergranule 10-16-2003 01:33 AM

gee that stinks....can i have it?

Now buy a 924 (few hundred pounds worth) and shoehorn that engine into it. It'll make a great track car.

Too bad it won't fit in a 924. But, the 944 guys might be interested in it.

I'll take it, for free that is :D!

Glasgow 911SC 10-16-2003 07:27 AM

Won't it? I always thought that'd be a great setup....shame. I've seen a couple of 924s with a 968 engine fitted. Lightweight and ~240Hp makes for fun.

Yeah...but it's still a 924.....:p

Aside from the anemic engine the 924 is one of the best handling cars I've ever driven. I'm sure the GT version is a force to reckoned with on the track.

It will fit, no problem. Only the intercooler will give you a hassle as it's mounted behind the badge panel which is welded on in the early 924s. The later 924S had the panel bolted on (and came with the N/A version of that 944 engine you've got anyway)! I say why not?

Kind of like the 914????

RickM 10-16-2003 08:35 AM

There ya have it.

RickM 10-16-2003 08:38 AM

Don't know about the 914 but the 924 was a maintenance PIA. Every little part seemed to break on the car.

JC930 10-16-2003 08:52 AM

and I just received a free 924 ----- hmmmm

Joe Bob 10-16-2003 08:57 AM

Short commute, dude.....

Glasgow 911SC 10-16-2003 08:57 AM

I would like to get a 924 one day as a dailly driver. They handle beautifully and can be had for next to nothing.

zephog 10-16-2003 09:59 AM

Do you think you could install it in a camaro or corvette?

No but Renegade Hybrids can put a Corvette engine in the 924! :D

Glasgow 911SC 10-16-2003 01:15 PM

I've seen a 924 project for sale with a 928 engine fitted. Now that would be interesting.

1fastredsc 10-16-2003 01:36 PM

I've seen a 944S with 383 in it and a mild shot of nitrous.
