Well, it could have been worse ... could have been a 924 Turbo engine!

Now buy a 924 (few hundred pounds worth) and shoehorn that engine into it. It'll make a great track car.

Too bad it won't fit in a 924. But, the 944 guys might be interested in it.

Won't it? I always thought that'd be a great setup....shame. I've seen a couple of 924s with a 968 engine fitted. Lightweight and ~240Hp makes for fun.

Aside from the anemic engine the 924 is one of the best handling cars I've ever driven. I'm sure the GT version is a force to reckoned with on the track.

It will fit, no problem. Only the intercooler will give you a hassle as it's mounted behind the badge panel which is welded on in the early 924s. The later 924S had the panel bolted on (and came with the N/A version of that 944 engine you've got anyway)! I say why not?

Don't know about the 914 but the 924 was a maintenance PIA. Every little part seemed to break on the car.

I would like to get a 924 one day as a dailly driver. They handle beautifully and can be had for next to nothing.

I've seen a 924 project for sale with a 928 engine fitted. Now that would be interesting.

I've seen a 944S with 383 in it and a mild shot of nitrous.
