Speedometer cable help

Hi, I bought a 1972 Porsche 911t.
It seems like it has a brand new speedometer cable, but it seems like it’s missing something in the other side of the “Angle Drive”. Is there supposed to be something on the other side?
(See pictures)

Also, could someone tell me what this yellow plug on the passenger side of the transmission is for?

Thank you all for the help

Can’t help on the speedo drive.
The plug is the reverse switch for your lights to work.
Two pin terminals go in it coming from the main engine harness. Also has a rubber boot cover.

Got it, that makes sense. Looks like the plug is completely missing. Don’t see it hanging off the harness.

The speedo drive gear popped out. You need another one. And you should have a 915 transmission in a 72, not a 901.

The gear is in there, you can see it towards the bottom of the speedo drive in this picture. Unless there are 2?
To me it looks like it’s missing a cap or something.

Would you happen to know the name of that part? Or where I can find it?

I’ve been looking up “angle drive cap” or “angle drive gear” and I’ve only seen the entire assembly pulling up.

Not going to find the individual parts. Search speedometer drive, but not for a '72, because your transmission is an earlier 901.

Yep, 911/01 is the number on the trans. I went ahead and ordered an entire assembly for the Speedo drive.

Now to solve the mystery of where in the world did the back up switch cable go.

Thanks for your help

The two wires come off the engine loom that includes the starter wiring.

Here is an example pic of an engine harness showing the reverse wires location.

Timmy, does the harness go from the tranny plug directly to the taillights?

No, the 2 wires are run to the 14 pin plug terminals 5&6. Then travel to each tail light through the body harness.
