Brake Light Problem

I have a 1986 911 Carrara Cabrolet. Radest most unbeliveable thing I have ever driven. Absolutly Incredible. Anyway... My brake lights only work when I press real hard on the Brake Pedal. With normal driving they dont come on at all but when I stop to check them, If I press down on the brake hard enough they come on. Is there a switch that I can adjust and how do you get to it?? Anyone had this problem??? Any comments would be appreciated. This Forum by the way is fantastic. Whenever Im in trouble with this very odd beast of mine, you guys always help out and save my tush........ THANKS A MILLION !

There are 2 switches screw into the side of the master cylinder, triggered by pressure on the brake fluid.

These can get gummed up by old nasty brake fluid, which probably means a previous owner didn't take very good care of the brakes. Change the switches (you need to check if they are 2 or 3 pole), and the fluid by adding new fluid and bleeding the brakes until new clean fluid comes out at each corner.

More info and part numbers can be found here
