For some reason, I had to use the 'Supersize Picture' option on pic #1!

The '73 911 Carrera RS wheels were actually 6x15 and 7x15. These are nice enough wheels, but not from an RS.

I enthusiasticly agree with all replies to this post... most especially the need to supersize pic #1! The wheels (oh, them) are probably Carrera wheels from '74 or '75, but certainly not RS wheels. I have a similar set of 8's that will probably show up here before long.

Hey Noah, I'm not sure I saw those. Are there in fact different numbers for the RS wheels? I'm not aware that there is any difference. Except maybe the 944 15s.

I need to correct my self in the last post. In the spring of '73 Porsche did in fact make availlable the 7 ans 8 x 15 wheels at extra cost on the RS. Doh! My appologies.

Humbly, Jens

Noah,
RSs had no specific Fuchs number. That is crap.
You can find that anodising on the '74 Carrera, and up to 1976 for the Carrera 2.7.

I did not know that the RS has 6's and 7's.

I knew the 911R had the special 7's on the back. Did the RS not have even more of a flare to the rear fenders? I only assumed that 8's were used as a natural evolution. Were the 7's on the rear of the RS the same wheels used on the front of the later cars?

This board is great. With all of the posters on board even threads like this can have some useful information.

Regards,

Reg

If you could 'supersize' that photo a couple more times, I'll bet you could, Super.

Noah,
I'd put it this way: Probably the fuchs rim with the rough/smooth anodised lips had specific part numbers, someone with the period parts list could check that out.
But I'm certain that there was no part number *specific* for a car or a type of car. If you needed 2 rims, let's say because you bent 2 on a pothole, then you went to your dealer, and ordered (1) 6 and (1) 7X15 Fuchs. From there, it would depend on wether the parts guy knew the differences between different finishes, and actually took the time to ask you if you knew what specific finish was on you rims. Most of the time, the custmer and often the dealer did not even know there were different finishes. That ended with the dealer looking up the numbers and ordering whichever number he first found that matched the size you needed.

There is mucho Crapola being said (and believed) about RSs. People tend to forget that at the time, the RS was another model, which after a few years was not worth much more than a '74 Carrera, because it was one year older. Heck, in the early 80's they were worth practically nothing, with a lot of them wrapped around lampposts, or rusted to death.
That they are precious now is a good thing because they are a living testimony of what the factory did right at the time, but let's stop believing the factory knew or cared at the time. They did NOT. The car was obsolete after ONE YEAR and they couldn't care less. plus their bookkeeping was marginal at best, opening the door to even more crap being written here and there.
If people were consistent about recreating the period, they would put mismatched rims left to right (yes it happened), electric windows in RS lightweights, std seats (not sport) in RSs, or S calipers on Ts.
I won't go into what clothes we should be wearing if we wanted to be faithful to our cars...

LOL. Maybe something like this would be appropriate for a 73RS:
