Cool Clutch spring sprung.....

The large "helper spring" (item #40 in the diagram) that is/was attached to the clutch pedal on my SC has broken. Does anyone have a closeup picture of the pedal cluster showing how that spring is attached? The spring that was on my coupe appears to have been broken for quite a while and was just lying off to the side under the pedal floorboard! Also, I am sure there must be a "trick" to putting the new spring back on.

Thanks in advance,

Fred Cook

Ok, for the trick. The simplest way for me is to remove the peddle cluster. Then rebuild the unit while it is out of the car. The short hook side goes toward the rear of the car, the long hook side goes toward the front. The trick to installing the spring is not to install the 8mm allen bolt on the side. Rotate the arm backwards, hook on the spring and then rotate the arm forward into position. While a vise holds the peddle assembly hold the arm in position and loosely install the long support metal bracket that goes to the brake boster and the allen bolt. Install unit into the car. Tighten allen bolt once everything is installed. (hope this make sense)
