Lake Superior Pro Rally -- 911 Sighting!

I just got back from Michigan, where I was able to watch the Lake Superior Pro Rally up in Houghton. Somebody from Eden Prarie, MN had an '89 911 that was racing! What a beautiful sight... They were really hauling a$$! I forgot the guys name, but was wondering if he was on the Pelican Web...

I may have some pictures, although probably not good ones. I'll try to post sometime soon!

Yeah, actually a few years back there was an older one--I think I may have pics of that one archived somewhere too...

This one was white with lime green all over.

Could it have been Bruce Boeder? He's suppose to be pretty quick.

I know the car your talking about. MY mechanic is the guy who works on it. I forget the driver's name, but I: guess he does quite well against the new cars

Rally Porsches

The old Porsche that ran production was owned by Dennis Chizma.

Bob Olsen drives the Porsche you saw at LSPR. Rumor has it he bought Chizma's 911 and updated the engine and body.

There were at least two that ran at Rim of the World earlier this year, and I'm pretty sure I saw one at Rallye De Quebec, as well. (But I was huddling in our trailer trying to keep from losing any fingers/toes from the cold, so I might've been mistaken).

I heard the guys with new cars didn't want the fans to see an old 911 beating them so they made him update the car to look like a 964.

At the risk of giving away my age, here's some 911's from what was then known as the POR (Press On Regardless) in Houghton where I attended Michigan Tech - early 80's:

And finally, here's the MAN himself - John Buffum in the Audi Quattro:
